Sustainability in Design & Construction India
It is estimated that by 2056, global economic activity will increase five-fold, global population will increase by over 50%, global energy consumption will increase by nearly threefold, and global manufacturing activity will increase by at least threefold. In 2001 the green building footprint in the country was just 20000 sq.ft but today India has progressed to 4500 IGBC registered green buildings of a footprint of over 4.5 billion sq.ft of space getting constructed. India accounts for 10-12% of global space under green buildings which puts India on the third position after Canada and China. India has over 640 projects and have received LEED certifications. India’s green building market is estimated to double by 2022 at 10 billion sq.ft, valuing around USD 35-50 billion, driven by increasing awareness level, environmental benefits and government support. Sustainability in Design & Construction India (SICI) was introduced by Nispana in 2010 discussing about various topics like holistic construction retrofitting, energy efficiency, green building and smart technologies and also key topics on sustainability. Every year it created a robust platform for top architects, construction companies, developers and consultants to meet, network and gain insight. Nispana is now proud to announce the 9th Annual SICI conference on 8 and 9 August 2019 at Bengaluru, India. This year’s conference is designed to have a close look at the robust system certifying green credentials, active participation by the government, builders and citizens in order to build structures that are both eco-friendly and responsive to citizen needs, emergence of new technologies and policies and many more.
